Who is plasma cutting suitable for?

Plasma cutting is a metalworking method suitable for thicker metals and complex shapes. Plasma metal cutting is appropriate for both decorative elements (e.g., house numbers and garden figures) and parts that must withstand loads (e.g., fasteners and brackets). This service is intended for those who need a metal part with a specific shape, dimensions, and thickness that is not available in stores.

  • For private homeowners

House numbers, gate panels, nameplates, fence decor.

  • For garden and yard designers

Metal figures, flower bed edges, fire pit elements, path markers.

  • For hobbyists and garage craftsmen

Specific shaped brackets, plates, and fasteners.

  • For car and motorcycle enthusiasts

Restoration parts based on old samples or drawings.

  • For car and motorcycle enthusiasts

Restoration parts based on old samples or drawings.

  • For artists and designers

Cut-out letters, logos, elements for artworks and exhibits.

What metal parts do we cut?

Most frequently ordered metal parts:

  • Decorative elements for fences, gates, and stair railings.
  • House numbers, nameplates, and signs.
  • Garden figures, sculptures, and flower bed edges.
  • Grill and fire pit components.
  • Brackets, plates, fasteners, and spare parts for repairs.
  • Structural elements for sauna, gazebo, or shed finishing.
  • Car and motorcycle restoration parts based on old samples.

If your project is not mentioned here, send us a description, and we will evaluate whether plasma cutting is suitable for your project.

How to place an order

  1. Send a sketch or drawing

A hand drawing on paper (a photo from your phone is sufficient), or a CAD file in DXF, DWG, or PDF formats. If you don’t have a drawing, send the old part or a photo with dimensions.

  2. Receive a price offer

We calculate material costs, cutting time, and the total price. We send the offer to your email. The price includes everything needed for you to receive a finished part.

  3. Confirm the order

After confirmation, we convert the drawing into a program and begin work.

  4. Receive the part

The execution time and delivery fee are specified in the price offer. You can pick up the part in person at the Halwelding workshop in Jelgava or have it delivered by courier throughout Latvia.

Metal cutting prices

We calculate precise prices individually, as each project differs.

Approximate prices for services:

  • Metal structure manufacturing, starting from 1850 EUR/t (1.85 EUR/kg).
  • Wet painting, starting from 22 EUR/m².
  • Powder coating, starting from 17 EUR/m².
  • Hot-dip galvanizing, starting from 550 EUR/t (0.55 EUR/kg).
  • Duplex (hot-dip galvanizing + painting), starting from 7 EUR/kg.
  • Blasting/shot blasting, starting from 7 EUR/m².

The price is influenced by the type and thickness of the material, the size, complexity, and quantity of the part.
When ordering several identical parts, the price per piece is reduced. The price offer is free of charge.

Materials and cutting equipment

We work with three materials, each suitable for a different application.

Carbon steel

The most commonly used material for decor and structural elements. It is the cheapest of the three materials, easy to paint and weld with other metal parts. To protect against rust in outdoor conditions, parts are coated with primer and paint. Suitable for house numbers, garden figures, brackets, and most outdoor decorative elements.

Stainless steel

Material for parts that will be in outdoor conditions or humid environments. Unlike carbon steel, it does not need to be painted and does not rust, thus maintaining its appearance for years.
The acquisition cost is higher, but the material lasts significantly longer. Often used for nameplates, grill surfaces, and swimming pool area elements.

Aluminum

Material for lightweight parts and design objects where low weight is important. It does not rust and is easy to process. Suitable for indoor decor, exhibition exhibits, and signs that need to be mounted on weaker surfaces or structures that cannot withstand heavy loads.

Plasma cutter SGX2500

We use the SGX2500 plasma cutter for cutting metal parts. The plasma jet is formed by gas heated by an electric arc to such a high temperature that it melts the metal, and the gas flow blows the molten material away from the cutting area. The machine’s working surface is 2 x 6 meters, allowing an entire metal sheet to be cut in one pass without additional joints. The maximum cutting thickness is 40 mm. We use plasma for both thin decorative parts and massive structural components.

CNC control follows the drawing’s contour, ensuring that all parts cut in a single order are perfectly identical in the final result. The cutting process takes a few minutes, depending on the complexity of the part.

Why choose Halwelding

  • No minimum order quantity

Other companies often only accept large volume orders, which is an obstacle for private home projects. We also accept single-part orders without an additional charge for small volumes.

  • Full price known before ordering

The price offer includes everything needed to receive a finished part: material, cutting work, and, if necessary, delivery.

  • Professional drawing is not mandatory

A hand sketch on paper (a photo from your phone is sufficient), a CAD file (DXF, DWG, PDF), or the old part as a sample is enough.

  • We advise on material and thickness selection

If you are unsure what metal and thickness will suit your project, we will recommend the most appropriate option and explain why it is the best choice.

  • We recommend another method if it is more suitable

If laser cutting or abrasive waterjet cutting is more suitable for your part, we will tell you. It is better to lose an order than to offer a result that does not meet your needs.

  • Finished product, not just a part

After cutting, we can galvanize and paint the part, so we provide everything from cutting to painting.
